FBI vs StealthGenie: First-ever criminal case concerning spyware app

Hammad Akbar, a 31-year-old who is the CEO of a company called InvoCode which created an app called StealthGenie allowing users to spy on other people’s mobile devices was indicted on US criminal charges, officials said Monday.

To install the app, customers needed physical control of the target’s phone for just a few minutes. It then sent all intercepted messages to the customer’s account. The information could be viewed at any computer with access to the Internet, according to the indictment. Capable of recording conversations within a 15-foot radius, according to the indictment.
