King Abdullah has died at 90

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz died on Thursday, Reuters reports, citing Saudi state television.

Abdullah’s designated successor is Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, his 79-year-old half-brother.

Reuters reports that King Abdullah had been admitted to a Riyadh hospital in December for medical tests. The royal court announced in January that Abdullah was suffering from pneumonia.

A grant of £1m has been given to seven startup companies that won a competition to create innovative internet of things (IoT) projects.

IoT is predicted to become a $500bn global technology market by 2019, while the industry is estimated to be made up of 26 billion devices by 2020.

Why The Remembrance Day is Prominent?

Years later another poem was the inspiration behind the Remembrance Poppy called “In Flanders Fields” is a war poem written during the First World War by Canadian physician Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae. He was inspired to write it on May 3, 1915, after presiding over the funeral of friend and fellow soldier Alexis Helmer, who died in the Second Battle of Ypres. According to legend, fellow soldiers retrieved the poem after McCrae, initially dissatisfied with his work, discarded it. “In Flanders Fields” was first published on December 8 of that year in the London-based magazine Punch.
